Situated between Fjerritslev and Slettestrand in northern Jutland, the Svinkløv region boasts some of Denmark's most attractive countryside and provides all the foundations for a great holiday. Here, you are just a short distance from both the coastline and a tranquil fjord, giving you an ideal base to explore all aspects of the great outdoors. The undulating local terrain is characterized by its leaf and pine forests stretching all the way down to the beaches, as well as many kilometres of well-marked walking trails.
This region offers some fantastic opportunities to cycle through the attractive tidal meadows and quaint woodland paths bordering the coast. Other local attractions include the Vejlerne nature reserve, which is visited by millions of migrating birds each year, and numerous beaches bordered by attractive dunes. Unlike other areas of Denmark, driving on the beach is not allowed here. However, most beaches have adjacent parking areas, and some, like the beach at Slettestrand, are very wheelchair-friendly.
The Svinkløv region is also renowned for its galleries, which contain not only traditional paintings but also glass, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and more. Other attractions include the famous Svinkløv Badehotel, a well-preserved wooden seaside hotel with adjoining gourmet restaurant, which is one of many fascinating reminders of days gone by.
The charming town of Fjerritslev offers excellent shopping opportunities, with specialist farmyard produce and a popular candy factory among its highlights. This area also offers numerous activity opportunities including golf, riding, bowling and tennis.
